Today we are going to talk about two of the most special wines that we have the pleasure to offer you at Divinumi Barcelona: Les Vinyes de Barcelona and Les Vinyes de Collserola. Besides being the only wines made in the city of Barcelona, they have behind them a history and a social mission that are worth being transmitted.
The origins of the wines of Barcelona go back to the year 2000, when the Barcelona City Council promoted the project and planted several Mediterranean varieties of grapes on the Finca Can Calopa de Dalt, on the western slopes of the Sierra de Collserola.
In 2010, the social integrative cooperative L’Olivera, winery founded in 1974 in Vallbona de les Monges (Lleida), took charge of the management of the farm and the operation of all its facilities and equipment, carrying out a magnificent work and bringing with it their values of social commitment.
Currently, the wines are already available for commercialization and very recently an agreement has been signed between L’Olivera and Turisme de Barcelona in order to give greater visibility to this project.
This initiative pursuesclear goals: on the one hand, it aims to recover the viticultural tradition of the city while promoting wine tourism, and, on the other hand, to bet on an innovative, ecological, integrating and quality agriculture.
To achieve these goals, as in Vallbona, in their facilities they welcome and give work to young people with intellectual or physical inaction at risk of social exclusion. They also carry out wine tourism activities in the Can Lopa farm: firstname.lastname@example.org
is the youngest wine of the two, a red wine made with Garnacha and Syrah from the youngest vines, and aged in oak barrels. It is a wine that surprises by its acidity and freshness in the mouth, also helped by its low alcohol content, and by its aromas of fresh red fruits and light toasted notes of aging. Easy to drink, light and very friendly, it surprises with its refinement reminiscent of the wines of Southeast France. Great partner with white and poultry meats, blue fish such as tuna or salmon, pasta with tomato sauces, mushroom risottos …
“Vinyes de Barcelona” is the most structured wine in the house, made with a careful selection of Garnacha and Syrah from older vines aged in oak barrels. With a complex and powerful profile, it maintains the freshness and finesse of the first, but it follows a much more structured wake in the mouth. A perfect wine to accompany powerful and fatty dishes, such as red meats, game, grilled and spoon stews.
